Dwarf Mallow (Malva neglecta) in its tiny, shy glories. Originally from Europe and Western Asia, this prostrate or sprawling plant does about the same thing there as it does here: conquer mown, grazed or cleared ground in early spring, before anything else can take over. Ultimately overcome by taller vegetation, Dwarf Mallow is principally a weed of places with regular disturbance and irregular maintenance: eg. your local nature strip, railway station reserve or 2-3 years demolished suburban double-wide.
