Large-flowered or Purple Woodsorrel (Oxalis purpurea), a widespread, winter-flowering environmental weed originally brought from South Africa as a garden ornamental. It showed up in Melbourne nursery catalogues in 1864 and is consequently quite common around the city, although these plants were found down the coast towards Anglesea at Point Addis. Like Soursob, O. purpurea reportedly does not set seeds here, but relies on the transport of bulbs and rhizomes in order to spread to new sites.
